Elegant, feminine, and unmistakably inspired by the golden age of film, the Oriana Belted Dress captures the graceful silhouette and timeless polish of 1950s fashion.

There are certain silhouettes that never truly leave us. They may drift in and out of fashion over the decades, but they never lose their magic. This dress belongs very much in this category. Graceful, poised, and unmistakably reminiscent of the golden age of cinema, the Oriana Belted Dress feels like stepping into a scene from a classic film.

The moment one slips into the Oriana Belted Dress, there is an undeniable sense of occasion. One half expects a camera to pan slowly across a sunlit courtyard, a string quartet playing softly somewhere in the distance, and perhaps Audrey Hepburn herself glancing over her shoulder with that famous knowing smile.

Because truly, if ever there were a silhouette designed for a Hepburn heroine, it would be this design!

A Neckline with History

One of the most striking features of the Oriana Belted Dress is its beautifully elegant neckline. Softly revealing the shoulders while maintaining a sense of refinement, this style rose to prominence during the late 1950s.

Designers of the era understood the quiet beauty of the collarbone. Rather than dramatic plunging necklines, many dresses were designed to frame the shoulders and upper chest in a more graceful way. Bateau necklines, Sabrina necklines, and gently off the shoulder styles allowed a woman to feel polished, feminine, and composed.

The influence of Audrey Hepburn cannot be overlooked here. In films such as Sabrina and Funny Face, Hepburn’s wardrobe introduced audiences to a new form of elegance. Clean lines, graceful silhouettes, and beautifully framed necklines created a look that felt both modern and enduring.

The Oriana Belted Dress captures this same spirit. The neckline draws attention to the shoulders and décolletage in a way that feels poised rather than showy, echoing the elegance of many classic Audrey Hepburn style dresses.

The Shape of Classic Elegance

The Oriana Belted Dress is built around one of the most beloved silhouettes of mid century fashion. A fitted bodice flows into a full skirt, with the waist gently defined by its matching belt. The result is the unmistakable hourglass shape that defined so much of 1950s style.

During this era, fashion celebrated structure and femininity in equal measure. Dresses were designed to highlight the waist, soften the shoulders, and create movement through the skirt. The Oriana Belted Dress does exactly this, making it a beautiful example of a classic vintage fit and flare dress.

It is a silhouette that feels instantly polished yet wonderfully wearable, whether styled simply or dressed up for an occasion.

The fullness of the Oriana Belted Dress owes much to a pivotal moment in fashion history. In 1947, Christian Dior introduced what became known as the New Look. After years of wartime fabric rationing, full skirts and defined waists returned to women’s wardrobes.

Women embraced this shift with enthusiasm. Petticoats once again became an essential part of dressing, adding movement and drama beneath skirts. The full skirt became a symbol of femininity and optimism.

The Oriana Belted Dress welcomes this tradition beautifully. Worn on its own, the skirt moves softly and gracefully. Add a petticoat beneath the Oriana Belted Dress, and the silhouette transforms into something truly cinematic. The movement becomes more playful, the volume more dramatic, and every step feels a little more theatrical.

How to style the Oriana Belted Dress

One of the loveliest things about the Oriana Belted Dress is how beautifully it welcomes creative styling. Its classic design makes it the perfect canvas for vintage inspired accessories.

A cameo brooch pinned at the neckline feels entirely at home, echoing the refined jewellery often worn throughout the 1950s. Cameos add romance and old world charm, enhancing the elegance of the Oriana Belted Dress without overpowering it.

For those who adore volume, a petticoat (or perhaps two!) beneath the skirt creates a dramatic mid-century silhouette. The skirt becomes fuller, the movement more expressive, and the overall look wonderfully nostalgic.

On cooler evenings, a cropped bolero such as the D'Amour Crop Jacket in Black adds polish while allowing the graceful shape of the dress to remain visible.

And then there are the finishing touches...

The D’Amour Follies Lace Cameo Hair Bow feels as though it was designed with the Oriana Belted Dress in mind. Crafted in delicate black lace and centred with a sparkling cameo, it adds a note of vintage glamour that echoes the elegance of the dress itself. Worn tucked into softly waved hair, it completes the look with unmistakable old Hollywood charm.

Pearls, of course, are always welcome. Audrey Hepburn herself famously adored them, and a simple strand frames the neckline of the Oriana Belted Dress beautifully.

Finish the look with classic heels, softly waved hair, and perhaps a small fascinator, and suddenly one feels quite ready for a scene from a classic film.

A Dress for Every Scene

What makes a truly classic design endure is its versatility. Much like the wardrobes of the great screen icons, the Oriana Belted Dress moves effortlessly between moments.

Worn simply, this vintage design is perfect for luncheons, garden parties, or elegant afternoon teas. Add a petticoat, pearls, and a cameo brooch, and the Oriana Belted Dress becomes ideal for an evening at the theatre or a romantic dinner.

Because that was always the magic of mid century fashion. It allowed a woman to become the heroine of her own story.
